AIPAC Helped Engineer the Mass Starvation of Millions of Palestinians in Gaza
AIPAC is the largest and most well-funded Israel lobby group in the U.S. It has spread lies, manufactured consent for the starvation of Gaza, and backed politicians who have introduced measures against UNRWA (UN Relief and Works Agency), the largest and oldest humanitarian organization serving more than 2 million Palestinian refugees in Gaza. Thus clearing the way for the murderous GHF, which has claimed the lives of thousands of Palestinians at so-called aid distribution sites.
In February 2024, AIPAC-funded Louisiana senator Bill Cassidy sent a letter to the Senate Majority and Minority leaders demanding an “immediate and permanent prohibition” of U.S. aid to UNRWA.
Cassidy has reportedly received over $420,000 in donations from AIPAC and other pro-Israel groups. In exchange for this funding, Cassidy joined the campaign to starve Palestinians by pushing to cut off their most critical lifeline for humanitarian aid.
In March 2024, AIPAC released a memo titled “UNRWA: An Obstacle to Peace that Must Be Replaced.” In it, AIPAC propagated Israel’s smears, lies, and false accusations against the agency.
The memo was released after Israel criminalized UNRWA and declared it a terrorist organization, prompting several countries, including the U.S., to withdraw funding from UNRWA’s humanitarian aid work in Gaza.
In February 2025, AIPAC-funded Texas congressman Ronny Jackson introduced a bill prohibiting federal funding to UNRWA. Jackson has reportedly received over $119,000 in donations from AIPAC and other pro-Israel groups.
In April 2025, AIPAC-funded Texas Senator Ted Cruz introduced the “LIABLE Act” in the U.S. Senate. This bill allows international organizations to be sued by Americans using spurious “support for terrorism” allegations. It was abundantly clear that the primary target of this bill was UNRWA. Cruz has received nearly $1.9 million in donations from AIPAC and other pro-Israel groups.
In 2024, AIPAC spent over $100 million on direct lobbying and political spending to secure support for the genocidal Israeli state. These memos, resolutions, and bills played a foundational role in undermining UNRWA and clearing the way for the rise of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF).
The GHF, set up to replace the UN-led aid system, is a U.S.-Israel project that has turned aid distributions sites in Gaza into horrific death traps. Over 1,000 Palestinians have been killed while trying to access aid at GHF sites.
AIPAC is using its influence in U.S. politics to propagate Israel’s strategy of delegitimizing humanitarian aid organizations, undermining UN agencies and international courts, allowing for aid to be used as a weapon of war and placing distribution under the control of U.S.- and Israeli-backed private military contractors and militias.
The pattern is clear: U.S. politicians that receive AIPAC funding become paid spokesmen for Israel’s war on Palestinian existence. Now, nearly the entire population of Gaza is experiencing an Israeli-engineered famine.
