Israel holds
thousands of martyred palestinians’ bodies
Israel currently holds an estimated 2,000 bodies of murdered Palestinians, a systemic policy of capturing and exploiting dead bodies that began long before October 2023.
Thousands of bodies are placed in anonymous graves and refrigerators, marked only by numbers, meant to humiliate martyrs and punish their families. Today, there are still unidentified Palestinian bodies in these graves from as early as 1967.
Among the known bodies currently held by Israel, at least 88 were prisoners, martyred in Zionist dungeons, at least 67 were children, and 10 were women.
Additionally, over 300 bodies were stolen from burial sites during Israel’s assault on Al-Shifa Hospital and Al-Daraj quarter in Gaza.
Denied a dignified burial, Palestinian bodies are used as bargaining chips during every round of ceasefire negotiations. Despite this, Israel’s use of bodies as political leverage is minimized or hidden by mainstream media in the West. The reported estimates are most likely skewed, as there are thousands of Gazans reported missing since the begining of the genocide, with no trace of their bodies being found.
Since the ceasefire, Israel has returned 150 Palestinian bodies—many showing signs of field executions and mutilation, arriving blindfolded and bound, with gunshot wounds to the head. Some bodies showed traces of being tortured and crushed by Zionist tanks, their organs and skeletons crushed beyond recognition.
Israel is also systematically stealing organs from martyred Palestinians, as bodies are being returned with missing hearts, livers, and corneas after being surgically removed. This routine practice is an attempt to torment Palestinians in life and in death — using tactics to further disfigure and desecrate martyrs’ bodies even after killing them.
As Israel continue to hold the bodies of Palestinian martyrs, we must continue to push the Zionist entity into international isolation.
Israel must be tried for these war crimes. The bodies of our martyrs must be returned. The Zionist occupation and its forces must continue to be exposed for their barbaric war on all Palestinian life. The US government and its allies must not succeed in their efforts to repair Israel’s image or hide their crimes against humanity from view.
