NATIONAL MOBILiZATIONS
Mass mobilizations are a necessary component of revolutionary action. They are often the first step many take for direct involvement in grassroots action and their first exposure to revolutionary politics, and are a meeting point between communities and organizations. Mass mobilizations preserve the steadfastness and political cohesion of Palestinian communities as through collective action, our movements are able to communicate our politics and message widely, demonstrating to both our supporters and enemies our strength in our ability to directly confront the institutions that support Zionism and the genocide of our people.
Since 2023, we have organized mass mobilizations in the form of local mobilizations, international days of action, and national marches.
March on washington
In an unprecedented show of support for Palestine, hundreds of thousands of people marched on DC multiple times during Israel’s genocide on Gaza. The Palestinian Youth Movement convened with movement partners to call for several of these national marches on Washington, DC.
On November 4th, 2023, over 500,000 people gathered in Washington DC for the largest march in recent US history to be in solidarity with Palestine. Hundreds of organizations endorsed and joined the action from across the nation, as far as California and Texas. Thousands marched in their contingents of teachers, students, healthcare workers, artists, organized labor and many, many more. This action was a turning point in the movement’s trajectory during Israel’s genocide on Gaza, a decisive march to show the US government where the masses stood and that Palestine would be the single defining element of the Biden administration.
march on ottawa
In Canada on November 25th 2024, the PYM organized the largest Palestine march in Canada’s history, with an estimated 100,000 people in attendance. This march brought together a wide range of speakers from labor unions, to doctors, to Palestinian, Indigenous, and Black communities. This march was the first national march on Ottawa for Palestine, and asserted clearly the demands of the movement, beyond ceasefire, that the Canadian government impose an arms embargo against Israel, and called for the release of Palestinian prisoners, and to lift the siege on Gaza.
shut it down 4 palestine
On November 9th, 2024, the PYM alongside partner organizations launched the Shut it Down 4 Palestine Coalition, calling for international days of action including mass mobilizations, high school walk outs, pickets, and actions.
Netanyahu out of dc!
When the US Congress invited Benjamin Netanyahu to speak on July 24, PYM joined tens of thousands who came out to DC in rage and protest of the internationally wanted war criminal. We mobilized people from all sectors and many cities across the country on a Wednesday in a strong show of force, which the capitol police attempted, but failed, to suppress.
Through barricades, pepper spray and police repression, the people stood strong to show we will never rest, so long as the US government continues to fund and facilitate a genocide and so long as our people face brutal genocide and occupation.
